Spring Newsletter

Happy New Year and welcome back to school. I hope you enjoyed your time off during the holidays and are looking forward to returning to school.

You can download the new Knowledge Organisers for this half term to see what we will be learning about across our different subjects.

Just a reminder as well about our upcoming trips:

Wednesday 18th January - Aerozone trip at Manchester airport (4AP)

Wednesday 8th February - Chester Zoo trip (Year 4)

Wednesday 17th May - Tatton Park Anglo-Saxon/Viking trip (Year 4)

(Please hand in any trip money and slips directly to the office)

PE has now changed to a Monday - please ensure your child is wearing suitable PE kit to school on this day every week.

Reading

It is really important that your child reads 20 minutes each day minimum. If you are able to read with your child, that is also extremely beneficial to support them. Please could you update reading records in your child’s planner and sign this each week.

Homework

Homework will be sent out weekly on a Friday. This will be spellings, literacy and maths which will be consolidating learning they have done in the classroom that week. Please encourage your child to return this to school on a Wednesday.

Times tables

We will be having a huge focus on Times Tables in year 4. It is very important that by the end of the school year, the children know all of their times tables fluently up to 12 x 12. We will do lots of work on this in school but please encourage your children to do extra practice at home. They all have Times Table Rock stars logins in their planners which is a fantastic resource for improving their tables.

Thankyou,

Mr Pattenden
