4KH Newsletter (Autumn 2)- 1/11/2022

Happy Autumn 2 everyone. I hope you all had a lovely break. This half term we will be starting some new topics in our non-core lessons. I have attached the knowledge organisers for you to have a look at.

Geography: Weather

Science: Eating and Digestion

DT: Sewing Stockings

RE: How do people from religious and non-religious communities celebrate key festivals?

Art: Landscapes: Horizons and perspectives

ICT: Coding

This half term we will be having music lessons with Mrs Osborne every Wednesday.

PE Day

Our PE lesson will be on a Thursday, so children can come to school in their PE kit. Please remember no jewellery, football shirts and appropriate footwear.

Swimming

Swimming lessons will be all Autumn term on a Monday afternoon. Please send your child in with their swimming kit, towel and swimming hat. Time slots until the end of this half term will not affect any pick-up times, children will be back to school before normal finishing time.

Reading

It is really important that your child reads 20 minutes each day minimum. If you are able to read with your child, that is also extremely beneficial to support them. Please could you update reading records in your child’s planner and sign this each day-if possible, or at least 3 times a week.

Homework

Homework will be sent out weekly on a Friday. This will be spellings, literacy and maths, which will be consolidating learning they have done in the classroom that week. Please encourage your child to return this to school on a Wednesday.

Times tables

We will be having a huge focus on Times Tables in year 4. It is very important that by the end of the school year, the children know all of their times tables fluently up to 12 x 12. We will do lots of work on this in school but please encourage your children to do extra practise at home. They all have Times Table Rock stars logins in their planners which is a fantastic resource for improving their tables.

CLASS ASSEMBLY

Our class showcase assembly is booked in at 9:10am Tuesday 15th November 2022. We will be informing you about what we have been learning in our first half term in year 4 and showcasing our amazing work! If this changes I will let you know. A letter will be sent out to confirm this. All the children have a part in our assembly. I will be sending their parts home by the end of this week. Please encourage them to practise them as this will really help with their confidence. We will also be practising in school. We hope you can make it.

Please keep checking your class page for further updates.

Thanks

Miss Hart :)
