4KH Newsletter (Spring 2)- 27/2/2023

Happy Spring 2  to all my 4KH cherubs and families. Can you believe we are half way through the school year already? We have lots of exciting topics happening over this half term, including world book day and a class assembly to round off the Spring term.

This half term we will be starting some new topics in our non-core lessons. I have attached the knowledge organisers for you to have a look at.

History: Anglo-Saxons and Vikings

Art: Viking Art

RE: Why do some people think that life is a journey? What significant experiences mark this?

ICT: Effective searching

Music: The Beatles, Blackbird

Science: Electricity

PE Day

Our PE lesson will be on a Thursday, so children can come to school in their PE kit. Please remember no jewellery, football shirts and appropriate footwear.

THERE IS NO SWIMMING UNTIL THE CHILDREN REACH YEAR 5

Reading

It is really important that your child reads 20 minutes each day minimum. If you are able to read with your child, that is also extremely beneficial to support them. Please could you update reading records in your child’s planner and sign this each day-if possible, or at least 3 times a week.

Homework

Homework will be sent out weekly on a Friday. This will be spellings, literacy and maths, which will be consolidating learning they have completed in the classroom that week. Please encourage your child to return this to school on a Wednesday.

Times tables

We will be continuing a huge focus on Times Tables in year 4. It is very important that by the end of the school year, the children know all of their times tables fluently up to 12 x 12. We will do lots of work on this in school but please encourage your children to do extra practise at home. They all have Times Table Rock stars logins in their planners which is a fantastic resource for improving their tables. Make sure you watch out for prizes and class tournaments which the children can take part in on the TT rockstars platform.

World Book Day

World book day will take place the first Friday we return. 3rd March 2023. Children can come to school wearing a dressing up outfit of their favourite character/book etc. Or they can come to school in their Pyjamas. Please no football shirts.

Class Assembly

Our class assembly is booked in for Thursday 30th March at 9:10am in the KS2 hall. This is the last Friday before we break up. If there are any changes I will let you know ASAP.

School Uniform

As a school, we are having a big push on school uniform. We will be expecting the children to arrive at school in an appropriate school uniform, whether this be with a logo or a plain navy blue jumper, cardigan etc. We do have spare uniform, however this is far and few between and children will now be expected to get changed into any spare uniform we have for the day. If you have any questions please come in and speak to us we are here to help where we can :)

On the day your child has PE, they can attend school in their appropriate PE kit (No football shirts are allowed), however they will no longer be allowed to wear PE kits on the days they attend after school clubs. Please send your child in with an appropriate PE kit in a bag on those days, unless it is the same day as our PE day then the children are welcome to attend in their kit for the day and their club. The children will be given time to get changed at the end of the day in time for their club.

Please keep checking your class page for further updates. Any queries please ask. We will help where we can.

Thank you for your continued support :)

Miss Hart :)
