4KH 2021 - 2022

Miss Hart

Welcome to 4KH

6/6/22

Happy Summer 2 everyone. Our last half term in Year 4. This year has flown! Please continue to encourage the children with their times tables as we will be completing the times tables check in our first week back, as well as assessing the children on their knowledge in preparation for handovers for Year 5. Your support is appreciated and the times tables rockstars platform really helps with this.

PE remains on a Thursday, please attend school in your kit that day.

Homework and reading remains the same. I will continue to sign planners and log homework including instant prizes for completion of homework and reading at least 3 times a week.

Topics this term include: Taoism in RE, Seasonal food in DT, The Normans in History and Living things and their habitats in Science. I have attached a copy of the knowledge organisers for you to see.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any queries or concerns, I am always happy to help or reassure where I can. Remember to keep a look out for letters with dates of different events as the school year draws to a close. I will post any dates on here as well when I know more.

Once again thank you all for your support

Miss Hart :)

19/4/22

Happy Summer 1 everyone. Only two more half terms before the end of year 4. This means we need to make sure we are working extra hard.

We are continuing with a times table focus and the children should be aware of the importance of learning them, not just in school but at home as well. Please use times tables rockstars where possible to help with this.

We also have some new Topics: Maps in Geography, Taoism in RE, Electricity in Science, and Viking Art in Art. I have attached the knowledge organisers for you to see.

PE remains on a Thursday please attend school in your kit that day.

I have noticed a decline in homework. Please complete and return to school as much as possible, homework is sent home on a Friday to be returned the following Wednesday. Please also read as much as possible. Reading is so important. I will check planners each day and will continue to sign them. Instant prizes will remain in place for hard work and effort in both the homework and reading areas.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any queries or concerns, I am always happy to help or reassure where I can.

Once again thank you all for your support

Miss Hart :)

1/3/22

Happy Spring 2 everyone... Can you believe we are over halfway through the school year!

We have some new topics this half term. I have attached the new knowledge organisers to our page.

Science: Teeth and digestion.

DT: Mini Greenhouses

History: Anglo Saxons and Vikings.

In Geography, we will be carrying on with rainforests and in RE, we will be finishing our Hinduism topic.

PE day remains the same on a Thursday, please can the children still come to school in their PE kit on a Thursday.

We have a class assembly this half term, we are due to have this week 4: Thursday 24th March. We hope you can make it... A letter will be sent out closer to the time regarding this... Fingers crossed we will not have to postpone or change the date but we will keep you up to date.

Homework and spellings will remain the same as the last term- Given out on a Friday to return the following Wednesday.

We are really emphasising the importance of reading right across year 4 and the school. Reading for even 5 minutes a night can make such a difference and a quick signature in diaries lets us know this has been done. I do look at diaries most mornings and mark off readers to keep a log so I can help track reading progress as it is so important.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any queries or concerns, I am always happy to help or reassure where I can.

Once again thank you all for your support

Miss Hart :)

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any queries or concerns, I am always happy to help or reassure where I can.

Dates for the diary:

4KH class assembly- Thursday 25th November 2021

Egyptian Day- Tuesday 30th November 2021

Library Visit (during school hours- pm)- Thursday 2nd December 2021

1/11/2021:

Happy Autumn 2 to all my children and parents.

I hope you are all well. This half term we will be continuing with Ancient Egypt in History, Hinduism in RE and Sound in Science. We will be also starting some new exciting topics- The Weather in Geography and sewing in DT- I have attached the knowledge organisers for both of the new topics.

PE still remains a Thursday and children should come to school in their kit as normal.

Homework remains the same as last term. Well done to everyone who has made sure their homework is in on time and completed. I have been very impressed.

The children are now in their new spelling groups. Lists of words will be provided by each teacher that the children can revise and practise at home. There is not a weekly spelling test, but after completing a number of units- which differs (1 unit lasts 1 week) there is a spelling test collating the spelling rules, this will include a variety of the words sent home each week, so it is really useful to keep revising each list so the words remain fresh to the children.

We will still be swimming each Monday- The times will be changing in a few weeks, where we will be the last group and so we will not return to school until around 20 past 3. I will give prior notice and reminders so nobody gets confused.

This half term we will have a class assembly. This will be Thursday 25th November in the morning. All parents and carers are welcome to come and watch. Notice regarding this will be sent out closer to the time. Children will start to come home with their lines for the assembly so they can practise. Some children would like to dress up. I will try to get hold of as many items as possible. Not all children want to dress up- this is also fine and some will not need to dress up. I will be asking your children if they have specific items or outfits at home, which would be amazing if we could possibly use them. Any issues at all please let me know.

I am really looking forward to another amazing half term with the children. Especially on the run-up to Christmas. Thank you to all parents for your support.

Miss Hart :)

3/9/2021:

A massive hello to all my 4KH superstars and parents. I hope you have had a lovely summer break and you are ready to come back to school. I have missed you all and cannot wait to see you on Monday. Just a quick message to keep you up to date with a few things:

  1. PE will be on a Thursday- All children can attend school on a Thursday in their PE kit- uniforms must be worn on all other days.
  2. Homework will be handed out on a Friday to be returned the following Wednesday. Spellings will be changing this year, so do not panic if you do not receive any the first couple of weeks as we are introducing a new scheme- If you have any concerns with the homework please let me know, the homework will be set according to what the children have been learning about in Literacy and Numeracy that week.
  3. To keep up with the amazing reading that went on in Year 3, please can you try and read as much as possible at home and sign planners so they can be checked daily.
  4. This term we will be swimming. Swimming will commence on a Monday afternoon. This will not start until week 2- Monday 13th September 2021. Letters will be sent home regarding this on Monday 6th September, along with the swimming timetable- Which will change every 4 weeks- You will be kept up to date with any changes. Please feel free to ask any questions if the letter sent Monday pm does not clarify everything for you.

We will be starting some exciting new topics this term! I have attached 5 knowledge organisers so you can keep up to date with what we will be learning during Science, RE, History, Geography, and Art.

Have a lovely weekend and I will see you all bright and breezy on Monday

Miss Hart :)
