Welcome back everyone and welcome to 6LE!

I hope you had a lovely summer and I am looking forward to seeing you all on Monday 5th September. Year 6 might seem like a scary year but please try not to worry - we will be a great team and have an amazing time! Below is some information that you might find useful.

PE

6LE's PE session is on a Wednesday afternoon each week. Please come to school on this day wearing your PE kit and make sure that you have suitable footwear, as most of the time we will be outside. No football shirts please!

Outdoor Learning 

On a Thursday you need to come to school in clothes that are suitable for outdoor learning: clothes that are suitable for all weathers, including layers and a coat, hat, gloves etc. when it is going to be cold and sensible shoes. Please do not wear clothes that you are not happy to get wet/muddy as we do often go into the woods for our outdoor learning and as we know it can be rainy quite often! 

Homework

In Year 6, it is really important that we send homework home that will consolidate your learning. It is important to get as much practise as possible with the skills that you need. Homework is given out on a Wednesday and needs to return to school the following Monday. Spellings are given out on a Monday and you have until the next Monday to learn those spellings for your test. If you are finding homework or spellings difficult, then please do not hesitate to come and ask us!

Reading

It is really important that you read for at least 10 minutes every day. Reading is a vital skill that will help you in the rest of your learning. You should keep a record of your daily reading in your school planner, which will be checked each morning. Anyone who reads everyday each week will receive a prize!

Lastly, please remember to bring a water bottle with you each day and come and speak to us if there are any changes to home time arrangements.
