Safeguarding Information
At Newall Green Primary School, safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all our pupils and ensuring that they feel safe, valued and supported.
We safeguard our children by:

Having a team of Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) who are appropriately trained and supported to carry out their safeguarding responsibilities.

Having a Designated Safeguarding Governor, Pauline Powell, who provides appropriate oversight of safeguarding arrangements.

Having clear safeguarding procedures for pupils, staff and visitors to follow when there is a concern about a child's safety or wellbeing.

Working with the Manchester Safeguarding Partnership and other relevant agencies when we need advice, support or intervention.

Promoting an inclusive, respectful and anti-discriminatory environment where every child and adult is valued, regardless of their race, religion, family background, disability, health, gender or other protected characteristics.

Monitoring attendance and following up unexplained or concerning absences, working with families and other agencies where appropriate to support children to attend school safely and regularly.

Attending relevant multi-agency meetings and sharing information appropriately to support individual pupils, while maintaining confidentiality and following data protection requirements.

Listening to children and taking their concerns seriously.

Being open and honest with children and parents/carers where appropriate when concerns arise, and working together to identify the best way to support the child.

Ensuring that safeguarding concerns are recorded, reported and acted upon appropriately and without delay.

Providing staff with appropriate safeguarding training and ensuring that they understand their responsibilities under the school's safeguarding and child protection procedures.
Our safeguarding arrangements are reviewed regularly to ensure that they reflect current legislation and statutory guidance, including Keeping Children Safe in Education 2026.

NSPCC Helpline
The NSPCC Helpline provides advice and support if you are concerned about the safety or wellbeing of a child, whether you are a parent or carer, a member of the public or a professional.

The helpline is currently available 10am–4pm, Monday to Friday. The NSPCC also provides information and advice through its website.

Report Abuse in Education Helpline
The NSPCC operates a dedicated Report Abuse in Education helpline for children and young people who have experienced abuse in an educational setting, as well as for adults and professionals who are worried about abuse in education.
