Literacy
At Newall Green Primary School, we believe that the power of words can open doors, spark imaginations and give children the confidence to find their voice. We want every child to become an enthusiastic reader, a thoughtful communicator and a confident writer.
Through rich and engaging texts, purposeful writing opportunities and a strong focus on developing vocabulary, children are encouraged to explore ideas, express themselves and discover the joy of language. We nurture a love of reading alongside the skills children need to read fluently, understand deeply and respond thoughtfully to what they encounter.
Our Literacy curriculum gives children opportunities to read widely, talk about their ideas, develop their own unique voice and write for a range of purposes and audiences. We want every child to see themselves as a reader and writer and to take pride in their achievements.
