Music
At Newall Green Primary School, we believe that music has the power to inspire, connect and bring people together. We want every child to discover the joy of music, develop their own creativity and find a way to express themselves through sound, song and performance.
Our Music curriculum gives children the opportunity to listen, explore, create, compose and perform. From discovering different musical styles and cultures to developing skills on instruments such as the ukulele, recorder and ocarina, children build their musical knowledge and confidence through practical, hands-on experiences. Regular singing and performance opportunities help children find their voice, work together and celebrate their achievements.
We encourage children to be curious about music; to ask questions, experiment with ideas, improvise, compose and develop their own musical opinions. Alongside musical skills, they develop important qualities such as teamwork, resilience, self-expression and self-belief, while discovering how music can support wellbeing and enrich our lives.
Most importantly, we want every child to leave Newall Green Primary School with a love of music that stays with them for life, whether they choose to listen, create, perform or simply enjoy the way music makes them feel. We hope every child discovers that there is a place for their voice, their creativity and their musical ideas.
