Pupil Premium
WHAT IS PUPIL PREMIUM?
Pupil Premium is additional government funding provided to schools to improve educational outcomes for disadvantaged pupils and help close the attainment gap between them and their peers.
Schools receive this funding for pupils who:
- Are currently eligible for Free School Meals (FSM)
- Have been eligible for Free School Meals at any point in the last six years (commonly known as ‘Ever 6’)
- Are looked after by a local authority
- Have previously been looked after by a local authority through adoption, a special guardianship order or a child arrangements order
-
Are children of service personnel (Service Pupil Premium)
The funding helps schools provide additional support, resources and opportunities to enable eligible pupils to achieve their full potential.

Why it is important to apply
Even if your child chooses not to take a school meal, we strongly encourage all eligible families to apply. Registering for Free School Meals can enable the school to receive additional Pupil Premium funding, which is used to provide extra support, resources, enrichment opportunities and interventions that benefit pupils across the school.
In addition, eligibility for Free School Meals may help families access other support and services available through the local authority and school.
If you would like more information about Pupil Premium or Free School Meals, please contact the school office. We will be happy to help and can support you with the application process if required.
