Personal Development
At Newall Green Primary School, we are committed to developing confident, healthy, respectful and responsible young people who are prepared for life beyond primary school. Our Personal Development curriculum is delivered through PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education), Relationships Education, Health Education and our Rights Respecting ethos. It is designed to support every child to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

Rights Respecting School
As a UNICEF Rights Respecting School, our curriculum is underpinned by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). Children learn about their rights while understanding their responsibilities towards others. This helps to develop empathy, respect, responsibility and active citizenship.
British Values
Our Personal Development curriculum actively promotes British Values by helping pupils to understand:
- Democracy
- The Rule of Law
- Individual Liberty
- Mutual Respect
- Tolerance of Different Faiths and Beliefs
These values are embedded through lessons, assemblies, pupil leadership opportunities and wider school life.
Pupil Voice
We believe every child has the right to be heard. Pupils contribute to school life through the School Council, questionnaires, class discussions and regular opportunities to share their views. Their feedback helps shape our curriculum and school improvement.
Working with Parents
We value our partnership with parents and carers. Families are kept informed about the PSHE and Relationships curriculum, invited to workshops and can view curriculum materials at any time. We work together to ensure children receive consistent messages about keeping healthy, safe and respectful.
