Evaluation of the GetAwayNGetSafe Programme.
Information for Parents / Guardians
Researchers from Manchester Metropolitan University are evaluating the GetAwayNGetSafe
(GANGS) programme on behalf of Greater Manchester Police (GMP). To do so, we would like
to invite all young people who take part in the project to answer some questions about the
subjects in the programme and their experiences of the project.

What is involved
We would like young people who attend the GANGS programme to take part in the
evaluation. We will need consent from you as a parent or guardian of the young person which
is obtained by signing a consent form. Your school will collect completed forms. There is also
more information available in the Participant Information Sheet which will be in school.
Young people will take part in the GANGS programme and be asked to answer some questions
about the subjects they have covered and how they found taking part. James from the GANGS
team will distribute and the collect workbooks and pass them to the research team. The
names of the young people who take part will not be passed to the research team. The
research team do not have access to the personal details of the young people who take part
in either the programme or the evaluation.

Who is who?
The evaluation is led by Dr Adam Westall a Criminologist at Manchester Metropolitan
University. The evaluation research assistant is Maia Wood. The evaluation has been funded
by Greater Manchester Police, led by Inspector Sarah O’Driscoll. The GANGS project will be
delivered by James and his team. For further information at this stage connected to the
evaluation please contact Adam Westall: a.westall@mmu.ac.uk
Your school will provide you with a consent form and Participant Information Sheet.
Thank you for your time.
