Computing
At Newall Green Primary School, we want our children to be confident, creative and responsible in a digital world. Computing is not simply about learning how to use technology; it is about understanding how technology works, using it creatively and developing the skills to solve problems and bring ideas to life.
Through engaging, practical experiences, children learn to programme, create digital content, explore data and understand computer systems and networks. They are encouraged to think logically, experiment, persevere when things don’t work first time and work collaboratively to find solutions. From programming and physical computing to creating media and exploring emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, children are given opportunities to see how Computing connects with the world around them.
We place a strong emphasis on online safety and digital responsibility. Children learn how to make informed choices, protect themselves and others, recognise reliable information and communicate respectfully online. We want them to understand not only what technology can do, but also how to use it safely, ethically and responsibly.
Most importantly, we want every child to leave Newall Green Primary School with the knowledge, confidence and curiosity to embrace technology, the resilience to tackle new challenges and the skills to become thoughtful and responsible digital citizens.
