Mental Health and Wellbeing Support for Parents and Carers

At Newall Green Primary School, we recognise that looking after your own mental health and wellbeing is important. We are committed to supporting the wellbeing of our whole school community, including our parents and carers.

We understand that family life can sometimes be challenging, and that everyone may need some additional emotional or practical support at different times. We want our parents and carers to know that they are not alone and that support is available.

How can we support you?

Parent and Family Support

Our Parent Support Officer is Evelyn Uche. Evelyn is based in school and is available to speak with parents and carers by appointment.

Evelyn provides a link between school and families and has access to a wide range of services, information and advice that may be helpful to parents and carers.

If you would like to talk to Evelyn, you can make an appointment by contacting her on:

Telephone: 0161 437 2872

Email: e.uche@newallgreen.manchester.sch.uk

You can also speak to Evelyn about any concerns you have about your own wellbeing or about finding support for your family.

Wellness Workshops

We offer opportunities for parents and carers to come together and focus on their own wellbeing.

Our Wellness Workshops provide a friendly and supportive opportunity to meet other parents and carers, take some time for yourself and explore ways to support your own wellbeing.

The content of our workshops can vary throughout the year and may include activities and discussions designed to promote positive mental health, relaxation, self-care and emotional wellbeing.

Coffee Mornings and Parent Events

Throughout the school year, we provide opportunities for parents and carers to meet one another and become part of our school community.

Coffee mornings and other parent events provide an informal opportunity to meet other families, share experiences and find out more about support and activities available through school.

Details of upcoming events will be shared with parents and carers through our usual school communication channels.

Courses and Workshops

From time to time, we offer courses, workshops and activities for parents and carers which aim to support family life, parenting and wellbeing.

These may include sessions relating to:

  • Parenting and family life

  • Supporting children with SEND

  • Mental health and emotional wellbeing

  • Self-care and positive wellbeing

  • Practical support for families

  • Opportunities to meet and connect with other parents and carers

Details of current and upcoming sessions will be shared with families throughout the school year.

You don't have to manage everything on your own

If you are finding things difficult, feeling overwhelmed or simply want to talk to someone about what support might be available, please get in touch with Evelyn.

You do not need to wait until things become a crisis before asking for help. Sometimes talking to someone and finding out what support is available can make a real difference.

We are here to support our families and help make sure that parents and carers feel connected, listened to and supported.
