Religious Education (RE)

At Newall Green Primary School, we want our children to be curious about the world, respectful of others and confident in developing their own ideas and beliefs. Religious Education gives children the opportunity to explore the rich diversity of religions and worldviews that shape our communities and the wider world.

Through stories, artefacts, discussion, visits, visitors and meaningful experiences, children learn about different faiths and perspectives while developing the knowledge and vocabulary to ask thoughtful questions. They are encouraged to listen carefully, consider different viewpoints, reflect on their own responses and understand that people may see the world in different ways.

Our RE curriculum places a strong emphasis on respect, empathy and inclusion. By exploring a wide range of beliefs, traditions and experiences, children learn to appreciate diversity, challenge stereotypes and recognise the importance of treating others with dignity and fairness. As a Rights Respecting School, we encourage children to understand the rights and freedoms of others and to value the contribution that everyone can make to our community.

From exploring belonging, special places and celebrations in the early years to considering deeper questions about belief, morality, identity and how we should live, children develop both their knowledge and their ability to think critically and reflectively.

Most importantly, we want our children to leave Newall Green Primary School as open-minded, compassionate and thoughtful young people, with the confidence to ask big questions, express their own views respectfully and appreciate the rich diversity of people, beliefs and worldviews that make our world such an interesting place.
