Wellcomm

WellComm is a speech and language toolkit available to early years practitioners working with children from 6 months to 6 years (Early years). It helps to identify and support children with unidentified speech and language difficulties in the Early Years and the Primary. It provides screening, intervention and reporting for language, communication and interaction skills.

The early identification of any speech and language difficulty or delay is key to the progressive development of a young child’s overall development. Throughout our early years provision, WellComm is used to assess and support the children's speech and language. The information gained is shared with families to support the child in school and at home. The assessments are also reviewed and monitored by the school SENDCo.

In school, following the assessments, we work with small groups or in 1:1 activites to build on the children's level of development. We will also send home, often via Tapestry, activites for families to undertake to continue the children's learning.

Please speak to the class teacher, SENCo, or Early Years Lead to find out more.
