Spring Newsletter

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year and are excited to return to school for our Spring term. We have lots of interesting topics we will be learning across our lessons and some exciting trips coming up.

Dates of our trips this term:

Thursday 12th January 2023: Aerozone- £1

Wednesday 8th February 2023: Chester Zoo- £16

PLEASE REMEMBER TO BRING IN YOUR PAYMENT AND PERMISSION SLIP AS SOON AS YOU CAN! If you need another letter please let me know.

PE Day

Our PE has changed this term to MONDAY so children can come to school in their PE kit that day. Please remember no jewellery, football shirts and appropriate footwear.

Reading

It is really important that your child reads 20 minutes each day minimum. If you are able to read with your child, that is also extremely beneficial to support them. Please could you update reading records in your child’s planner and sign this each week.

Homework

Homework will be sent out weekly on a Friday. This will be spellings, literacy and maths which will be consolidating learning they have done in the classroom that week. Please encourage your child to return this to school on a Wednesday.

Times tables

We will be having a huge focus on Times Tables in year 4. It is very important that by the end of the school year, the children know all of their times tables fluently up to 12 x 12. We will do lots of work on this in school but please encourage your children to do extra practice at home. They all have Times Table Rock stars logins in their planners which is a fantastic resource for improving their tables.

Please see attached in the files section the knowledge organisers for each subject. This will give you an overview of what your child is learning about.

Please keep checking your class page for further updates.

Thankyou,

Mr Cowhig
